Flat Dustin’s Travels

Due to Dustin’s physical confines, traveling opportunities are limited. Flying is out of the question and a hotel stay nearly impossible. The Handi-Cap Accessible sign does not necessarily mean equipped for someone with Dustin’s extensive needs. Since vacation is one of the many things that Dustin misses since his accident, we are beginning a “Flat Dustin” campaign. We are hoping that you all can help Dustin travel again. All you need to do is email your request to have Dustin visit you or accompany you on your next trip. Take pictures with “Flat Dustin” and write about his travels and adventures with you, then email them to dustmann@ymail.com. We will post the stories and photos on his webpage at dustinshope.org. Your adventures with “Flat Dustin” will become Dustin’s adventures, and he is looking forward to hearing all about them.

So far, Dustin has been spotted at the Parade for the NY Giants in NYC, at NYU for Josh’s show and No. Carolina with Corry and Tim. Photos will be posted soon. He is looking forward to Mongolia with Uncle Andy in the fall. Where in the world will "Flat Dustin" be spotted next?

For those of you who are wondering what "Flat Dustin" is, we have taken a picture of Dustin while

on his tilt table. We laminated and cut it out like a paper doll. He can fit in your suitcase to travel

anywhere or in an envelope and mailed for a visit with family in Florida or friends in Texas and

Arizona. "Flat Dustin" can go anywhere! Let's see how far!

		Hi Mom & Dad, I have arrived in Arizona, the trip was not bad. Sandy and John have these large palm's in their back yard, they provide plenty of shade for me, so no need to worry about me getting sun burnt. I will send more pictures later. Love you.
		Janet Crane from St. Petersburg, FL writes: Our walking group sends us off this morning. You'll notice I'm holding Flat Dustin. He is my friend Maureen's nephew. He can't travel internationally so he is traveling with us. You'll see him in lots of our pictures along the way.

		We took Flat Dustin to the Scott house in Virginia and as you can see he played along with many of the wonderful features in that home. The next day we went to see the White House, The American museum and the Natural History museum. The last day we went to the DC Zoo. We had a lot of fun traveling with Flat Dustin, hope he enjoyed himself. Love Ei, Andy, Eva and Mack



		Hi Kathy, Ken and Dustin, We made it back in one piece from Florida, but it was more of a working vacation than a relaxing one. Our mission was to try and find something to rent for a month next March, so we pretty much spent the week looking at condo's, etc. We did get to the beach once and also to Maureen & Bill's for two nights and I've included a few photos where we were able to get Flat Dustin in, but we did misplace our camera for 2 days so we missed out on a few shots. Anyway here they are and Moo said F.D. was to be left with her, so that's what we did. F.D. wasn't much trouble, ate very little and didn't say much so he's welcome to go again...........LOL See ya. 		I took flat Dustin to San Marcos, Honduras for a week of volunteer work with an organization called cape cares. We were in a very remote, poor area. Not quite sure it's a place he'd want to go to but It was nice to have a familiar face along with me for the trip. I know Dustman would enjoy the children so I took a photo next to them. 	We had a great trip in key west, weather was in the 80s the entire time. We spent everyday on the beach and watching subsets at night.	Mom, Hailey and I with flat Dustin I'm front of one of the coast guard ships on base.
